We selected three carob tree varieties to adapt in Cyprus.
Duraio (female tree) is traditional Spanish variety known for its high pod yield and good sugar content. It is considered well-adapted to dry conditions and is widely planted in southeastern Spain.
SDC (female tree) is a selected clone characterized by early fruiting, compact growth, and consistent productivity. This variety is being tested for its potential in high-density planting systems and ease of management.
H13P (hermaphrodite) offers vigorous growth, resistance to drought, and a high kernel-to-pod ratio, making it a candidate for both industrial use and climate resilience.
