Innovation: Water-Saving Polymer Supports New Carob Plantation in Cyprus

26.02.2025
In a bold step toward climate-resilient agriculture, our team has successfully integrated an advanced soil additive technology from SNF into our newly planted carob groves.

The material, known as a superabsorbent polymer (SAP), helps retain moisture in the root zone, reducing the need for irrigation up to 60%. Previously tested on several tree types, the technology has proven highly effective in enhancing plant survival and growth under drought conditions.

By incorporating SNF’s SAP into our carob planting process, we are actively addressing the challenges of water scarcity and changing climate patterns—while promoting the long-term sustainability of Cyprus’s traditional crops.

This innovation marks a major milestone in our commitment to regenerative and resource-efficient farming in Cyprus
